Our Story

Specialists in seafood for over 35 years

New Wave was set up in 1989 by Tim Boyd, to bring top-quality fresh fish and shellfish direct from the coast to chefs in the landlocked Cotswolds. The company has gone from strength to strength, and demand is such that we now supply many of the finest restaurants in central and southern England, including Michelin-star and rosetted establishments. We also supply some of the top schools in the country, many Oxford colleges, and a number of renowned London food stores.

Cirencester fish shop & home delivery

In 2008, together with chef Ben Hoggett (formerly of Bibendum and Greens of Piccadilly), Tim set up the New Wave Fish Shop (now New Wave Fish & Seafood Market) in the heart of Cirencester, to offer the same outstanding quality to home cooks.

Due to popular demand, in lockdown the company launched a home delivery service to supply fish and seafood to the local community in the Cotswolds and surrounding areas – a highlight in difficult times.

Ben retired in October 2024 and Adam Yeoh, who had been working at the Fishmarket alongside Ben for 11 years, became shop manager. Adam and his team are very much looking forward to serving and advising customers for many years to come.

Lechlade brasserie & fish market

In 2022, we opened a seafood restaurant in Lechlade, the New Wave Brasserie & Bar, where customers can enjoy our fresh, sustainable seafood in a relaxed, informal setting. In 2023, we set up a weekly Friday morning fish market in the passageway adjacent to the restaurant.

Committed to quality and sustainability

Over 35 years on, New Wave continues to be a fully independent company with Tim as Managing Director. Tim continues to be involved on a day-to-day basis, ensuring the same high-quality, sustainable seafood across all the elements of the business.
